Process Engineer - Chemicals
Summary
Improves and supports chemical manufacturing processes by optimizing safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance while providing day-to-day technical expertise to plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and troubleshoot production processes to ensure stable, efficient, and safe operation
- Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks, variability, and improvement opportunities
- Lead optimization projects focused on yield, energy use, cycle time, and waste reduction
- Support PSM activities, including hazard analyses, MOCs, and operating procedure updates
- Develop and update process documentation such as PFDs, P&IDs, and operating guidelines
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, EHS, and quality teams on technical issues
- Specify equipment changes and support capital projects with process design input
- Participate in root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
- Experience in chemical manufacturing, batch or continuous processing, or similar industries
- Strong understanding of unit operations, process control, and safety principles
- Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and communicate clearly across teams
- Familiarity with PSM-regulated environments and process engineering tools
