Production & Materials Planner
Hillsborough, NC Area Monday-Friday | 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. | Fully Onsite
A growing manufacturer in the Hillsborough area is hiring a Production and Materials Planner to manage production scheduling and material replenishment for a fast-moving manufacturing operation. This person will balance customer demand, production capacity, material availability, inventory levels, and operational priorities to keep production running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Create and manage daily production schedules
- Build material replenishment plans using MRP outputs, forecasts, inventory targets, and supplier lead times
- Create and manage purchase orders through an ERP system
- Monitor supplier commitments and material deliveries
- Address shortages, delays, and other supply risks before they disrupt production
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics, and Sales
- Monitor production results and adjust schedules as priorities change
- Analyze inventory levels, turns, excess or obsolete materials, and warehouse capacity
- Maintain accurate production orders, planning parameters, and master data
- Support continuous improvement projects related to service, inventory, cost, and operational efficiency
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in production planning, material planning, purchasing, or a related supply chain role
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or another analytical discipline
- Manufacturing experience
- Strong understanding of MRP and material-planning concepts
- Experience using SAP, Oracle, or another ERP system
- Experience coordinating with vendors and managing delivery plans
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and importing data
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work onsite full-time
Preferred Qualifications
- Food or consumer packaged goods manufacturing experience
- Experience with primary or tertiary packaging materials
- SAP experience
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
- Experience using macros or other Excel automation tools
Compensation
- Target base salary of $85,000-$95,000, with some flexibility for the right person
- 6% discretionary bonus
Other Details
- Fully onsite five days per week; no remote or hybrid option
- Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- The facility operates around the clock, but this is a weekday planning position
- Minimal domestic travel is expected
