Job Description
A leading food manufacturing organization is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead daily production operations within a high-volume manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and team performance while ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who excels at developing employees, improving processes, and delivering operational results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to achieve production schedules, quality expectations, and customer requirements.
- Monitor staffing levels, equipment utilization, and material flow to maximize operational efficiency.
- Partner with maintenance and support teams to minimize downtime and resolve production issues.
- Optimize labor, equipment, and raw material usage while meeting productivity and cost objectives.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Conduct safety meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all company safety policies.
- Maintain compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management, air quality, and water quality.
Food Safety & Quality
- Ensure adherence to HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and food safety programs.
- Verify products consistently meet established quality specifications and standard operating procedures.
- Lead corrective actions for quality or compliance issues and implement preventive measures.
- Support internal and external audits while maintaining documentation and regulatory compliance.
Continuous Improvement
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance efficiency, quality, and operational performance.
- Participate in cross-functional projects focused on operational excellence.
Leadership & Team Development
- Coach, mentor, and develop frontline production associates.
- Manage employee performance, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and engaged team environment that supports retention and growth.
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain accurate production, quality, attendance, and performance records.
- Communicate production results, challenges, and improvement opportunities to plant leadership.
- Collaborate with quality, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and other departments to achieve operational goals.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Knowledge of quality systems, safety regulations, and manufacturing best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Food, poultry, protein, beverage, dairy, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, OSHA 10/30, or similar.
